Nice read. What is going on with Ledecky. He is nowhere to be found. With Ho sang its all on him at this point. This is his last chance. He has Talent.

Seriously - with Lou, it’s just blah, blah, blah, followed by moo, moo, moo before he ends with meow, meow, quack.

With the Isles anyway. Former first rounders get a lot more rope than others. It's tune he get it together.

Hasn't changed personnel on defence yet but was trying wasn't he? Maybe couldn't sign anyone. Wanted a culture change so brought back Martin? Must have been a Weight issue then, as Martin was there with Cappy.

Lou's Not going to work miracles. High expectations aren't going to be realised short term in my opinion. With all the orange trees he now has, he still has to wait for the oranges before he gets the juice.

But a farmer with a clue on how to get the oranges ripe instead of someone who was trying to raise tomatoes in an orange field.

The game has passed Lou by and he refuses to change with the times. he was a figure head in Toronto and had no real authority... his last 3-4 seasons in NJ were a disaster terrible drafting and signing old past their prime free agents. Honestly feel bad for the islanders fans because the rebuild will not start until Lou is gone

First, your analogy fell woefully short. Maybe in Florida it would have worked but not here.

Sexond, after 12 yrs of Garth, Lou is a miracle worker by the sheer fact that he is competent and has the balls & brains to act accordingly.

Third, we have a coach who has only been successful and just climbed & conquered the mountain.

With or without Tavares, this team is poised to have the best chance at competing than they’ve had in 20+ years.

G’day!

Id temper your expectations. Trotz has had the best team in the NHL for a few years & won once? Your deficiencies are well known but your new Gm hasn't addressed them - yet. Garth set the organisation up stacked with talent whether you like that or not. Let's see what Lou can do with all that talent. He couldn't hold onto Tavares. Let's see how Lou goes year 1 mate & look back & tell me then.

I think its fair to see what happens next off season when possibly better talent available. This upcoming year is an evaluation of what an NHL coach can do with these players, something the organization has lacked. Year 1 is a pass but year 2 is not...

But don't think NJ had the prospects the Isles have now. As long as he doesn't surrender prospects but uses the vets to build a winning culture and pass on experience to young players.

This team has plenty of talent on it. Watching them play last year and frankly all the Capuano years was painful to watch. They had no real system. They had constant breakdowns that lead to odd man rushes not just a few times a game but every single shift. You would see D-men caught completely out of position every shift. Forwards from other teams would be left wide open in front of the net as 2 D-men and 2 forewards were in the same corner. Fundamentally , this team was an abomination. Then you would have a power play that would not have either D-men with over 100 MPH slap shots on the point. They would have guys like Bailey and yes JT at the point who would fail to keep puck in zone and give up constant break-aways on the PP. A month into the Season our PP had 1 goal and gave up 7 short handed. Think about that... our PP was -6. I was at a game in an empty Barclays and yelled "Decline the Penalty!" at the top of my lungs.

We now have a hall of fame coach. Leddy has won a cup. Boychuk has won a cup. Ladd has won a cup. Pulock, Pelech, Toews, and Hickey will have much better seasons with a real coach. This team will be much better this year. Offense was certainly not an issue. Defense was.. and yes while Goaltending was an issue it had a lot to do with the 7 or 8 odd man rushes a period.

it was a disaster b/c you had Parise and Kovy pull a houdinin on your team. That was not Lou's fault. He won 3 cups and got you to the finals 4 times while GM.

I wasn't taking a shot at Devils fans with that comment. I was pointing out why they had such a downturn. Both Parise and Kovy are/were J.O. for doing it.
